Eating Local with Alan Wong
Melissa Chang, blog writer for Urban Mix Plate dined with Chef Alan Wong to experience his special Farmer Series Dinner featuring meat from Kuahiwi Ranch on the Big Island. Kuahiwi’s Al Galimba and daughter Michelle’s cattle are grass fed up until the last three months, then they are given the option to eat natural grains to help the meat’s flavor and texture.
After tasting the beef side by side, Melissa said that the Kuahiwi beef had more character than the regular beef, both had flavor but the Kuahiwi beef was definitely more exciting! Alan Wong has a Farmer Series dinner every quarter featuring different local farms and what they offer. Meet the farmers and get a better awareness of sustainability and buying local.
