When compared to the mainland, Hawaii seems to be behind in the new drinking trends that are popular today.  Colorado native Kyle Reutner has been a bartender in Honolulu for 5 years and says what people order to drink depends highly on the establishment. The atmosphere, look and overall feel of the establishment must have an effect on not only what you drink but also how much you drink too.

Guys usually go with beer Reutner says, and the ladies tend to choose the fancy cocktail glasses.  A lot of people are more willing these days to let their bartenders choose a drink for them, Reutner says that in the past it was very rare but the trust has increased in the last year. Some of Reutner’s favorite drinks to make is the Honolulu Cocktail #2 (equal parts gin, maraschino liqueur, Benedictine), Bon Sherry (Aperol, bourbon, sherry) and the Old Fashioned (orange, bitters, sugar water, bourbon).  Read the full article here.
