As you might know, macadamia nuts are native to Australia, and so they sell their own chocolate-covered mac nuts there. But I'm curious which concept came first; the Hawaii version or the Aussie version since it's widely-held that the concept of omiyage is what threw Hawaiian Host's version worldwide, but original to the confectioner's concept, I wonder. Just curious.

There is something so exotic and decadent about chocolate covered mac nuts. As you mentioned, they make wonderful gifts.
