Oahu’s Past: What was here before?
What was here before?
Development continues to change the landscape and architecture of Hawaii, and quite honestly the older I get the harder it is for me to recall — what was here before? And, so I thought I’d ask the Hawaii Traditions readers for their help. Below is a photo of what is now the University branch of First Hawaiian Bank on the corner of King and Isenberg Streets, but what was here before?
Please post your answers in the comments and more importantly share your memories.

Fantastic conversation in the comments, for the answer click to read more. Even if you guessed correctly, the photo that you will reveal will certainly bring back memories!
I still remember how delicious their hamburgers were, far better than any franchise burger joint on the island. I have many memories of pulling up in the parking lot, all of the kids rushing out of the car to peer over the stainless steel counter to place our orders. But, when I look at the photo above, I can only imagine how cool it must have been during my parent’s days!
