The 2009 Friends of the Library Book Sale: My Loot

BooksSome would argue that I live a very…well, mild life. And I would have to agree. Evidence: The Friends of the Library Book Sale is something I obsess think about all year long. I mean, not only did I go once this year, but I went three—count ’em three times—this year (woohoo!). In the end, my husband dropped me off at the book fair and lovingly said, “Stay as long as you like and get it out of your system so we don’t have to come back again.” Humpf.

So I did!

And man, oh, man, did I get some goodies! In the end, I skipped away with about 40 books in all; from literature and gardening books, to French grammar books, from various non-fiction, to a slew of children’s books. Here is a sneak peek at what is on the menu for my summer reading (all in hardcover!) and what I paid for them at the Book Sale:

Now I realize that this list is completely without a novel or work of fiction, but I’ll have you know that I was trying to get to that section, but I ran out of time! Sigh and sob!

But wait! Did you know that many of the State of Hawaii Libraries have a section of Friends of the Library books available at Book Sale prices all year long? And furthermore, did you know that the Friends of the Library has “Bill’s Bookmobile” which they dub as a Friends of the Library of Hawaii Year-Round Bookstore? It’s true! Here’s more info:

Bill’s Bookmobile
690 Pohukaina Street

Days and Hours:
M-F 10 am – 2 pm
First Saturday of every month 10 am – 2 pm

So, I just might be able to get my copy of “Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini and “Little, Big” by John Crowley, after all.

I’d love to hear what treasures you picked up at the 2009 Friends of the Library Book Sale.
